Once a player loses all their Casino Coins in their buy-in stack, they are considered bust and must leave the table. It actually feels like a pretty good achievement grinding out of such a hole. It's been rather a long time since I posted on the blog, almost 18 months, and in truth I haven't really been active for about 3 years. Non-motorized watersports, fitness center with complimentary yoga, pilates, body fitness, and Zumba classes schedule may vary. Day 1 has been good so far. The room is a Emerald suite and is beautiful. We can't fault the room, or our view! The minibar is stocked with beer, sodas and a couple bags of chips. Like most reviews, the drinks are only slightly cold at best, however the ice machine works fine, so no worries there. The only hiccup we ha e currently is the AC in the room.
We've been here an hour and it's no cooler than when we walked in. Being from South Carolina, we like to stay cool when not out playing and the room is, maybe f.
If you appreciate a cool AC you will not be happy here. We talked with our concierge and supposedly room maintenence is coming. She said she was leaving at 5 5: We're hopeful the room AC will be worked on, or that they'll place us in a better room. If not, we'll make the best of it, but won't be comfortable in the room for our stay. Tonight we have dinner reservations at the "Ginger" restaurant.
We're excited and hopeful that we'll have a great dinner. I'll continue to update as we go! I started the review at 5 stars and will take it down as we go, if necessary Luxurious! I traveled with my boyfriend and another married couple. We were offered upgrades upon arrival but kindly declined as we don't need anything super fancy as we don't spend most of our time in the room.
One Comment after reading a few reviews -- If you want your fridge stocked more than once a day -- just ask. They are very accommodating and come super quick. We took the private shuttle due to booking with the hotel which was very nice! Check-In went smoothly and our rooms were ready when we arrived at 1: We took a service cart to our room which was the only time we used that service as we like to walk everywhere and our driver was kind enough to show us a few things before taking us to our room.
The grounds are exceptionally well kept and beautiful. I truly felt in luxury during our whole stay. We spent most of our days at the main pool. We participated in every activity we could!
I can't say enough how much they made our trip and kept us involved at all times. Bravo a thousand times. You remembered our names from day 1 and made us feel so incredibly welcome I can't express enough how marvelous you all are!! You both were exceptional and took care of us each day by knowing what we'd want the moment we walked in. Floats -- there are plenty of them if people don't hog them out of the pool which we didn't see much of.
However, during 'busy season' this may be more of an issue? Also -- reserving seats is always a thing For dinners, we participated in Caribbean night which both our guys got up on stage and had a blast!
This resort IS very strict on their dinner attire, especially for the Men. If you plan to go to the restaurants for dinner, Bring long pants and a collared shirt. My boyfriend and his friend were also kindly asked to leave Don Miguel's after walking in wearing polo plaid shorts and boat shoes. The women can wear pretty much anything they want -- but for men they are very strict.
If you know ahead of time, it's not an issue. You can always change after dinner and go to the terrace or sports bar in shorts. Again -- some were a bit salty on the issue, which is understandable, however they do make it very clear in their hotel descriptions of this.
Both had an incredible time. We enjoyed the ability to engage with the staff as well as many other couples in the terrace or Sports Bar which really made our trip! We did make it to the beach a few times, and it was beautiful. Got to swim in the water up until about 4pm when the seaweed made its way in to shore. Although the beach is so incredibly well kept we had zero issues enjoying it each time! Honestly -- I can't say enough how incredible our trip was. I would say the majority of the people we met it wasn't their first visit and we can understand exactly why!
We hope to go back, sooner than later, and for longer than the 7 day trip we just had. What they don't tell you when you're booking is that you need to use the "Special Menu" for the spa in order to use the credit I don't know about some people And for the beach dinner, you also need to spend a lot more in order to use it. I recently took some time off to brew some beer, and even found inspiration for wine there. You never know where you will find creativity. Wine is certainly my passion and I approach it intuitively, very similar to cooking, tasting it the whole way through.

You will laugh nonstop. Are you naturally funny or do you have to work on it? What do you find unusual and what inspires you? What inspires me are the people close to me in my life, family and friends. Also audiences nightly that come to see live comedy, I love when people after a show tell me they have never seen stand up comedy before and that they really enjoyed it.
What I find unusual in this stand up comedy world is many things. This always baffles me. How can we make Modesto a comedy town? As a comedian we have a responsibility to make sure if we put on a show that we book the best comedians and put on the best show possible for the people that do support so that they will come back and have a good experience with comedy.
Tell us about your show June A: This year is going to be different. I wanted this to be an intimate show in a smaller setting with more options instead of 1 night only at Cheroot Cigar Lounge in Downtown Modesto on 10th St.
I also run a free show there where I showcase other comedians 1st and 3rd Tuesday of every month. This is a Cigar lounge, so if smoke bothers you this may not be the place for you. I will be headlining which means doing a 1 hour performance each night. There are only 40 seats available per show. June Movies When you are out cruising the streets of Modesto this month in your classic car, what better place to meet up with friends than a drive-in restaurant.
You can get some great food while showing off your ride. This has been a local tradition dating back to the early days of cruising during Graffiti summer.
In fact, drive-in restaurants in Modesto predate the Graffiti Era. The early drive-ins were not what one would call great works of architecture and were built to serve a function and not much more. Suddenly drive-ins became these bold, futuristic buildings with curving glass facades and glowing neon signs. Among others, Scenic Drive-In serves up some great burgers, and Sonic Drive-In on McHenry has become a popular place for classic cars to gather during Graffiti summer and even feature carhops on roller skates.
So as you cruise out this month, be sure to drive in and continue this great tradition! Eli lives life surrounded by his wife Jaci and their kids, classic cars, station wagons and the most beautiful vintage guitars and his custom cars. How cool is that? Make yourself uncomfortable and try to be unique. Keeping the car culture alive. Some of the best times have been helping one of my buddies finish their car before a big car show or cruise. There is nothing more enjoyable then throwing your family and some friends in a hot rod and just going for a cruise. Do your kids share the same passion you have for this? Yeah, Anyone that knows me knows my kids are all about hot rods. They are always in the shop pitching in and keeping me straight.

Kenny and Judy Wa continue to share their Graffiti memories. Every classic car needed a flashy paint job. Over the years, Glen has pinstriped at least 20, cars and back in the day. Yes, this line was immortalized by Joe played by Bo Hopkins in the film American Graffiti as he convinced Glen was part of the original cruise back in the late 50s and Curt Richard Dreyfus to become a member of the Pharoahs.
It was a somewhat disappointing result as I began the table chip leader but lost all my important showdowns. This was for nearly half the chips in play and would have put me in a great spot to win, but alas he got there. However I could easily have finished 6th at this point so laddering up to 3rd wasn't a bad result in the end, and of course I had run well at times earlier in the tournement to make it to the final table.
Online poker has been ticking along for me. Lately I've been reducing my table count to around the mark which I'm finding quite enjoyable. I'm also playing a few less turbos these days. It is unquestionable that poker is gradually getting tougher, so it is imperative to stay ahead of the curve. So I'm trying my best to make sure I can still earn money from this game which I've been playing professionally for about 10 years now!
Right off the bat in I had some rather odd fortune. Except, it didn't get cancelled. I won that too. But now I have to go to Australia at the beginning of February. Now that sounds pretty awesome, but it was a bitter-sweet feeling for me as I'd be leaving my 2 young children behind for the first time, with my wife having to cope with the little monkeys.
My compromise was to only go for a few days. I actually only ended up being there for 6 days, which is a bloody long way to travel for such a short time! Actually, though, I didn't find the journey too painful. When you have two kids you never really get the time to just sit down and do nothing. So I was actually pretty happy getting to sit, chill, do some reading and watch a film or two that weren't made by Disney for a change! I was regged up for 1C the day after I got there but fired away at 1B on the day I arrived instead, which was a bold move but I slept really well on the flights and felt like it would be fine.
I actually took what I consider to be the worst beat of my poker career. Maybe not equity wise as it was still early on in the tournament.
However, this was the biggest buy-in tournament I'd ever played, I just traveled 24 hours solely to play it and just a few hours after landing I get this beauty: Tim Slater a British reg of all people opens from early position in Level 5.
Tim bets, I peel, BTN peels. Turn is a Jack. River is a J. He calls with J9os. Unfortunately a couple of hours in to Day Two I got it in with a combo draw vs 2 pair and didn't get there. It made sense to take a shot in a few tournaments while I had the opportunity in soft fields given that I had traveled all the way to Australia, but after not having the best 4 months online prior to this the bankroll depletion wasn't particularly well timed.
The few weeks after Oz didn't go particularly well either, which equated to about a 6 month spell of suckiness, by far the worst run in my poker career. Fortunately April was kind to me and things finally started to pick up, so hopefully I have turned a corner and I won't have to go job hunting just yet. Here's a few pics of Australia. I enjoyed the few days I was there, although being on my own was a bit of a bummer.
Melbourne is a really lovely city though, I enjoyed the touristy bits that I managed to do and it was pretty sick going for a morning jog alongside the river. Sick view from my room! Although there is no tangible reward, aside from my lobby and VPP count sporting the 1 million Hall of Fame badge booooommmm , it's kind of a cool milestone to reach. The good sports at PokerStars support provided me with a lifetime audit so I could work out a yearly breakdown of VPPs: Reaching this milestone would have felt rather underwhelming had I not recently managed to dig myself out of my largest ever downswing or at least after my high stakes cash game days pre It has been quite the most extreme ride on the variance rollercoaster over the last 2 months.
Consequently I was feeling pretty pleased with myself. I even made a couple of frivolous purchases; something I rarely do just because I happen to have experienced some positive variance.
Little did I know I was about to be brutally punished for this. I went on an absolute death run in everything. Those of you that have followed my blog when I used to update much more regularly! Still, I've taken a few swings that felt kind of rough before. I've never experienced anything quite like this, though.
Perhaps I have been particularly fortuitous in my poker career to have avoided such a death run until now. I can't deny I have had the odd particularly lucky bink Winning the Sunday Supersonic was ridiculous, so was my 3rd place in the Monte Carlo although it was kind of due but that's a difficult claim to make when it comes to live poker tournaments , but when you go on a death run, any previous fortune is quickly forgotten.
I suppose I was technically stretching the truth, as I did actually have a losing month in February However I only played games that month because my daughter was born then.
