How many people did you see with their ZETA7 tag upside down on their car for years after they changed format? I had one on my '72 Nova until I sold it. I saw a car about a year ago with one.
I still have one in my storage Haven't seen anything about The Classroom. I met my wife there in March of Great list but very hard to read What year was it that the calico jacks on Alafaya and SR 50 Close? Does anyone know what year calico jacks on Alafaya and E. Colonial Dr aka SR 50 closed please?! I don't recall that one but there was one here in Kissimmee a long time ago. They had good burgers. My family moved to Kissimmee from south Florida in I am ten years older than my sister so after she graduated from high school and started working we began driving to Orlando every weekend just to have something to do.
This was back in the 80's. When my sister was old enough to get into the clubs we started going to Park Avenue and J. Those were the best times of my life and if I had a time machine I would go back there. I remember so many stores, restaurants and other places on the list posted here and seeing the names brings back a lot of memories.
Used to go to Peaches a lot to buy tapes. My then boyfriend played guitar so we would go to Abney's music store. My sister-in-law were just on the phone today trying to remember all the old places here in Kissimmee.
Her family moved to Kissimmee around the same time as my family and she is two years younger than me. We remembered quite a lot and I am trying to research all the old places here but not having much luck. My family moved here when Disney was being built and my dad was a painter out there. My mother got a job at Disney in first working as a housekeeper at the Contemporary hotel then as a reservationist.
She worked out there for well over 25 years full time then after she 'retired' she worked part time well into her 70's. My mom had perfect attendance for all those years. When she got dementia in I moved her in with me and my son cleaned out her house. My mom was a hoarder of sorts and kept every piece of paper she ever got from Disney including the employee handbook when she was hired.
Lots and lots of old Disney memorabilia and my son has it all. Sadly she passed away this August. I remember my mother giving me, my son and my sister each a book of tickets for Disney and I would drive us out there to spend the day. We went every weekend for a long time just to have something to do.
Actually it still is. There was a Royal Castle at the corner of Howell Branch and It is now Edy's ice cream. One block away on Howell Branch was the Melting Pot fondue restaurant. I don't know how to post it here, though. Abney drove a red factory slantnose Porsche Turbo. I was there the day he got it back from the bodyshop after its first respray. Definitely no kit car. But yes, Van Halen did come to Abney's and it did make an impression on him when he was still just a kid.
The funny thing is, I used to pass him on Mills Avenue every morning on the way to work as we traveled in opposite directions and it took me years to put 2 and 2 together I always windered who that butch was that was driving that beautiful He was very boyish and had a haircut that very popular with lesbians and punk rockers of the day.
Hiding behind those John Lennon shades every morning, i didn't recognize that he was recognizing me and smiling I just thought he was a friendly lesbian that liked my cars, lol. Too bad you took to disparaging him with disinformation sbout that awesome car his father purchased for him.
Definitely not a steal Peavy Mark IV bass head and a cabinet with 2 10's and a Black Widow 18" speaker and with daily sales like that along with lessons and repairs on everything from mandolins to pianos, there was no need to fake anybody with a kit car.
