We stayed here from 26th August through to 29th and again from 9th Sept through 12th Sept TripAdvisor LLC is not responsible for content on external web sites. Everything is pristine and hygienic, and the service impeccable. I must include that we did choose to have laundry done, a lot of laundry done, in the exquisite Rachamankha Hotel in Chiang Mai and it was a tiny, tiny fraction of our "discounted" price at Hyatt Kathmandu. The hotel has a big garden with a jogging trail. Hyatt Regency Kathmandu When meandering around the stupa, make sure to do so clockwise; this is called a kora, or circumambulation. The Boudhanath stupa is the holiest Tibetan Buddhist site outside of Tibet itself, and has been a pilgrimage site for centuries. Although the golden pinnacle was damaged in the earthquake, swift fundraising within the local and international Tibetan community meant that restoration was complete by the end of In November , a grand re-consecration ceremony was held, which was an important day for Tibetan and Nepali Buddhists.
While there are accommodation options in Boudha to suit all budgets, a stay at the Hyatt Regency Hotel is a real treat, and worth the 5-star price tag. While many upmarket hotels around the world can be somewhat sterile and cater mainly to business travellers, this is not the case at the Hyatt.
The inviting pool is a major drawcard of the Hyatt Regency. All guests can use the pool, and non-guests can too, for a fee. The weekend deal is popular with expats and residents of Kathmandu—for Rs for adults or Rs for kids, you can enjoy day use of the pool and a buffet brunch.
You can get a cheap massage in many places around Kathmandu, but for a full luxury spa experience, this is the best place to head. The treatment rooms are soothing with a beautiful lemongrass scent and quiet atmosphere with dim lights. The treatment menu includes everything from pedicures and facials to full body massages and scrubs. Everything is pristine and hygienic, and the service impeccable. I visited while heavily pregnant, and the therapist went out of her way to make me comfortable during my facial, even giving me an extra leg massage, which was highly appreciated!
Next door to the Club Oasis spa is a small but well-equipped gym, which guests and members can use. The five acre grounds of the Hyatt Regency also include running tracks through the landscaped gardens and lawns, and tennis courts.
Special events and exhibitions are often held here—such as parts of the Kathmandu Biennale—and there are also permanent collections of Kathmandu and Nepal-centric art and photography. From a more contemporary cultural vibe to an ancient one: The area around the stupa is always full of colour and activity: In fact, shopping for Tibetan souvenirs in Boudha might just have an edge over shopping in Tibet itself, as many Tibetan crafts and other items are made in Nepal.
Boudhanath stupa, one of the holiest sites in Tibetan Buddhism. When meandering around the stupa, make sure to do so clockwise; this is called a kora, or circumambulation. All Tibetan Buddhist sites should be passed this way, from mani stone walls in the Himalayan areas to holy Mount Kailash.
A very special place to stop for tea is the Tea-Zen-House, on the second floor and below a Japanese restaurant.
This Taiwanese-run tea shop is full of exquisite Eastern tea sets and tea-making paraphernalia, and fresh Chinese-style teas are brewed in front of you in what amounts to a sort of tea ceremony. Hyatt Regency Kathmandu is a beautiful hotel, very near Boudha Stupa. The lobby area is spacious with a very calming and beautiful atmosphere due to the Nepalese temple style decoration.
Every evening there are musicians who play very lovely Nepalese mountain music flute, Sarangi, tabla which creates a very serene atmosphere. Our room was very comfortable, spacious and beautifully decorated with a view of Boudha Stupa; very comfortable bed. It was a pleasure to come to come back to the hotel and the room after a busy day out - the moment we entered the room we could smell the sandalwood aroma.
The hotel has a big garden with a jogging trail. The outside swimming pool area is lovely - surrounded by trees and a glimpse of the Himalayas at the distance. Staff were very helpful and courteous. Overall a very lovely fantastic hotel - would love to come back again.
I am sorry to note that you found our rates expensive but I assure you the service and facilities available are reflective of the allocated price. We look forward to the pleasure of welcoming you back to Kathmandu and our hotel.
This is a gorgeous hotel with outstanding staff. The restaurants are excellent and the service is top notch, just as one would expect from a Hyatt Regency. We enjoyed our location. We had two rooms for our family, with one overlooking Boudhnath Stuppa, which I enjoyed; otherwise, the rooms were the same. We tried multiple dining locations on site and found them all to be of high quality. Truly outstanding, except for one caveat of poor communication and management.
Upon checkin, we were offered to pull a prize from the fishbowl, which was a free laundry service. We were not planning to have laundry done on sight, but since we had won it, we thought why not. There was no mention verbally of what the service covered. We put several items together for two people and when the representative came to collect it, we told him we had a coupon for free laundry. He indicated that he did not need the coupon and made no mention of the limit on laundry, nor did he have us complete any form..
He simply took the laundry to be done. My husband was very angry and I was trying to get this taken from our bill, for it felt a little like "switch and bait". You have won, so we had laundry done, and now you have to pay an exorbitant price. I suggested that the staff make the "winning" of free laundry much more clear verbally to future patrons. Moreover, I sent a letter of complaint regarding this experience to Hyatt Regency Corporation, hoping they would make amends in some way; however, they did not even respond to my e-mailed complaint.
I would have otherwise given this hotel 5 stars, and I am resisting giving a much lower score in fact due to this caveat. I am chalking it up to poor communication, but really Hyatt? I must include that we did choose to have laundry done, a lot of laundry done, in the exquisite Rachamankha Hotel in Chiang Mai and it was a tiny, tiny fraction of our "discounted" price at Hyatt Kathmandu.
The hotels are of comparable luxury. I suppose I would give the hotel and general staff 5 stars, and the management sadly one star. Kindly note, further to the incident , the matter was resolved at the time of check out. My sincere apologies for any miscommunication you might have had concerning the offers. On a more positive note, I am glad that you experienced our associates to be friendly and found the hotel luxurious.
I do hope we will have the opportunity to welcome you back to our hotel in the future and ensure a more memorable stay. Sincerely, Rajesh Ramdas General Manager. Dear Guest, Thank you for your kind feedback. We at the hotel appreciate your positive review and glad to know that you had a relaxing stay.
